Dr. Abira Basu

Born on 18.05.1976 into the family of Dr. Ashok Ranjan Basu(I.A.S) and Dr.(Mrs) Anulekha Basu. Did her 10th From DPS, Shimla, 10+2 and B.Sc ( Medical) from St. Bedes College Shimla, She did her LL.B, LL.M (2003) from H P university with Dissertation : Jurisprudence of Cyber Crimes: Some Introspection. And Ph.D in Law (2008) from the same university. Topic Of Ph.D being: Jurisprudence of Legislative Safeguards of senior citizens in India: A critical Study with Special Reference to the State of Himachal Pradesh. Registered with the Bar Association, High Court of H.P in the year 2000. Did Certificate Course in computers and French. She was awarded various prizes for her performances in dance, drama, declamation, recitation, flower decoration, paintings and handicrafts. Started giving performances in dance and drama, recitation etc at the age of 5 years. Also participated, in state and national level programmes. Also represented the HP University in moot courts competition held at Hyderabad in the year 2000. Life member of the Red Cross Society and WWF. Awarded Certificate as Master Trainer in Ubuntu by the Hon’ble E committee of the Supreme Court of India. Joined the HP Judicial Services in the year 2003. Worked as Civil Judge (Jr Div) cum JMIC cum Rent Controller at Shimla from 03.03.2004 onwards. Worked in the same capacity at Una and Hamirpur. Remained posted as Deputy Director HP Judicial Academy from 12/07/2010 to 07/07/2012. Worked as ACJM Hamirpur, and also as Principal Magistrate JJB at Hamirpur. Also worked as Secretary, of District Legal Services Authority, Hamirpur till 30/04/2013. Had the privilege of working as an Officer on Special Duty(OSD) in the Hon’ble High Court and looked after the work of Organization and Administration, Personnel and Library from 01/05/2013 to 27/04/2014. Worked as Civil Judge Senior Division Cum ACJM Nurpur and Chairman SDLSC from 30/04/14 to 05/05/2016. Remained posted as CJM cum Senior Civil Judge Sirmaur at Nahan- from 09/05/16 to 27/12/18. Joined as Deputy Director HPJA on 28th Dec 2018 and remained posted until 31/0/2021. Joined as Senior Civil Judge-cum-CJM Sirmaur at Nahan on 06/08/2021 and remained posted till 26.11.2021 FN. Upon promotion joined as Additional District and Sessions Judge, Sirmaur District at Nahan on 26.11.2021 AN and remained posted as such till 21.01.2023 FN. Transfer and posted in the newly created Court of Additional District and Sessions Judge, at Paonta Sahib, District Sirmaur, H.P. on 21.01.2023 AN. Now, upon transfer, joined as Additional District and Sessions Judge, Sarkaghat w.e.f. 08-05-2024.
